Novinger Family Group Sheets


    Novinger Planned Progressı (PPI) Coal Miners Museum Library has 3,775 Family Group Sheets (FGSs) in its collection for families who live or have lived in the greater Novinger area. The index for the collection includes all surnames (including the wifeıs prior surnames, where shown) and the given names for both spouses.
    PPI will provide free of charge a list of all FGSs for any surname appearing in the collection. Just send the request to (Claire R. Lloyd)
garygene at sbcglobal dot net and specify the surname(s) of interest or click below.

   The response will include two surname lists, one for males and one for the womenıs prior names. The response will also state how copies of FGSs may be obtained by regular mail. This is intended to be a fund raiser for PPI, a non-profit organization, as well as to provide a service for genealogists.

Family Group Sheets (FGSs) in the Coal Miners Museum in Novinger sorted by:

The man's surname.

The woman's maiden name.

    The FGS collection and its index may be viewed at the Coal Miners Museum Library in Novinger and copies may be made there for 25 cents each. Library hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Sunday during the summer months and at other times by appointment by calling:

Come and visit the Coal Miners Museum and Novinger Log Homestead.
Admission to the museum is one dollar for adults and 50 cents for children.

     If you visit the Novinger area, you can obtain copies of these FGSs for 25 cents per copy or Copies of Family Group Sheets (FGSs) may be obtained by mail for $5 each plus a self-addressed, stamped legal size envelope (SASE). The money is used to help maintain the Coal Miners Museum which is operated by Novinger Planned Progress, a not-for-profit organization. Make your check payable to Novinger Planned Progress and send it, the SASE and the requested FGS(s) to:

Please note: Some of these FGSs contain only information than could be gleaned from federal census records. Therefore, please advise in your request, which of the below options you have chosen.
 
Option 1:
Include the requested FGS(s) even if (it/they) contain only information from census records.

Option 2:
Exclude FGSs that contain only information from census records and return my uncashed check.
 
Please note: These FGSs are physically located about 8 miles away. I plan to travel there about once per week to respond to those requests that include payment in advance. Therefore, a reply to your request could take up to 10 days or so. Thanks!

Mettie Swisher-Davis, of Novinger Planned Progress (PPI), is accepting Family Group Sheets (FGS) for any family that resides or did reside in the greater Novinger, Missouri area. That area is defined as that part of Adair County that lies west of the Chariton River plus all of Nineveh Township. PPI already has its FGS collection located in Novinger's Coal Miners Museum Library.  PPI  has not yet prepared a list of FGSs in its collection and is unprepared at this time to respond to mail requests. However, the FGS
collection can be reviewed at the museum.
